Experiential days out across Cape Town
Twelve exciting weeks in Cape Town. One extraordinary opportunity to discover who you are, where you are going, and what you can become and bring to the world.
Gap Explora is a 12-week hybrid experience for 18 to 28 year olds in transition. Purpose, direction, self-knowledge and creative capital, built through experience rather than lectures.
The Western Province Cricket Club and Newlands Cricket Stadium are home base. Each week the group spends a few days off-site, exploring the same developmental themes across greater Cape Town. The mountain, the ocean, the city and its people are part of the curriculum, not the scenery.
It runs on i-THRIVE, the Lead4Life whole-person model built over 23 years with schools, organisations and communities across South Africa. You leave with capability you can point at, and a next step you actually chose.
Starts 1 February 2027

Late summer into autumn, as the city slows down and the mountain opens up.
Cape Town in winter. Fewer crowds, deeper work, a tighter group of people.
Spring on the Cape Peninsula, with the whole city coming back to life.

You may simply know you're ready for more. Gap Explora is built for 18 to 28 year olds at a turning point.
What if the most valuable three months of your life weren't spent deciding what to do, but discovering your purpose, strengths, true potential, ideal self and best future path?
Each phase builds on what the last one made possible.
Flip a card to see what sits inside it.
Start with the person doing the deciding.
Leadership stops being a title and becomes a practice.
Build something, put it in front of people, leave with proof.
A theme a week, each one experienced rather than taught. Open any week to see what is inside it.
The Lead4Life whole-person model. Every week of Gap Explora touches all six.

The Western Province Cricket Club (WPCC) and the Newlands Cricket Stadium become the home of the Gap Explora community. Our base for experiential workshops, projects, specialist facilitation, coaching and mentoring, guest speakers, reflection, networking and socials.
Each week we spend a few days off-site exploring our developmental themes across Greater Cape Town.
Experience one of the world's most cosmopolitan cities while engaging in a structured personal growth, leadership development and life-readiness programme.
One fee for the full twelve weeks, shown in your local currency.

The prospectus has the full week by week outline, what the fee covers, and payment terms.
If your question is not here, ask us directly. We would rather answer it properly than leave you guessing.
Gap Explora is designed for 18 to 28 year olds. School-leavers are a major part of the group, but so are students, career changers and young entrepreneurs. If you are near the edges of that range and the programme sounds right for you, apply and tell us your situation.
Part of each week happens in facilitated sessions at Newlands, part happens out across greater Cape Town on experiential days, and part happens in your own reflective and project work. It is a blend of contact time, field time and personal time rather than a lecture timetable.
Four cohorts run each year, each one twelve weeks long. The 2027 dates are confirmed: Pure Bliss runs 1 February to 23 April, Winter Spirit 3 May to 23 July, Joy Spring 2 August to 22 October, and Summer Blaze 1 November 2027 to 4 February 2028.
Gap Explora is a whole-person development programme, not a formal academic qualification. What you leave with is capability, self-knowledge, relationships, a portfolio of real work and a clearer next step, rather than course credits.
There are outdoor and adventure days involving walking, hiking and physical challenge, so a reasonable level of general fitness helps. You do not need to be an athlete. Activities are facilitated by qualified Lead4Life staff, and you can tell us about any medical or mobility considerations on your application.
Yes. Gap Explora is built for both local and international delegates. We work through visas, arrival, accommodation options and insurance with you personally before you commit, rather than making promises about services we do not run.
We will talk you through what applies to your country and what the programme can confirm in writing to support your application. We are not a visa service and cannot guarantee an outcome, so please start early.
Accommodation arrangements are being finalised and will be confirmed in the prospectus. Tell us on your application whether you need accommodation support and we will talk you through the options for your cohort.
You will need your own travel and medical insurance for the full twelve weeks, including cover for the outdoor and adventure activities. We can point you to providers who cover programmes like this one, but arranging your own policy is your responsibility.
Yes. The Showcase in week twelve is open to family and friends, local or international. If you would like to invite someone, let us know as your cohort's start date gets closer and we will share the details.
Full inclusions and pricing, including international pricing, are set out in the Gap Explora prospectus. Download it and we will send you the current detail for your cohort.
Payment terms, deposit and schedule are confirmed with you after your application is reviewed, and are set out in the prospectus. Applying itself is free.
You submit the form on this page, we read it properly, and we come back to you to talk it through. Places are limited to 50 per cohort, so applying early gives you more room to plan.
A full packing list is in the prospectus, since it depends on the season your cohort runs in. In general: layers for changeable Cape Town weather, comfortable outdoor shoes, and an open mind. We will confirm anything specific to your cohort before you arrive.
Tell us as early as you can. Deposit and refund terms are set out in the prospectus, and we would always rather know early and work something out than have you feel locked in.
You don't need to have everything figured out. You simply need to be ready to begin.
